Timmons Discusses Need For Regulatory Reform

In an interview with CNBC’s Squawk Box (3/17), NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons discussed the “massive impact” of the 297,696 regulations on manufacturers in the United States. While Timmons said not all regulations are bad for manufacturers, he emphasized the need for regulatory reform, citing the high number of regulations manufacturers face today. Among recent regulations, Timmons highlighted the WOTUS rule, the overtime rule, and the clean power plan as some of the more harmful regulations. He also discussed the strength and future of the manufacturing sector in the US, saying manufacturers are going to need more workers skilled in operating, designing, building, and maintaining automation and robotics.
