The Virginia Manufacturers Association (VMA) worked with Virginia property owners engaged in the management and oversight of facility projects with contractors to create the Virginia Local Users Council (VALUC).  Regular meetings of the Council will take place throughout the year as a forum for manufacturers and contractors to share best practices, learn about new technologies, discuss common concerns and evaluate safety standards.  For more information about joining the VALUC, please contact Alice Scott at 804-643-7489 ext. 23 or ascott@vamanufacturers.com or download an application below.  VMA members are eligible to join for no additional investment.

As part of the work of the VALUC to date, contractor safety standards and training programs aligned to those standards have been developed to meet the needs of owners with contractor employees working in both manufacturing and non-manufacturing areas of their facilities.

For contractors working in manufacturing areas:
These courses are web-based and require about 8-10 hours of total time to complete. The cost is $112 per employee.

Asbestos Awareness
Blood borne Pathogens
Confined Space Entry
Electrical Safety
Fall Protection
Hazard Communication
Lockout/Tagout
Personal Protective Equipment
Hearing Protection


For contractors working in non-manufacturing areas:
These courses are web-based and require about 4-5 hours of total time to complete. The cost is $85 per employee.

Personal Protective Equipment
Stairways and Ladders
Fire Extinguishers

Add-ons also available for either curriculum above as appropriate include, but are not limited to the following (all available in Spanish unless indicated):
