Introducing Future Makers: A New Pathway for Virginia’s Young Innovators

-Empowering Virginia Students to Design, Build, & Showcase Innovative Manufactured Products-

Richmond, VA—The Virginia Manufacturers Association has announced the launch of the new “Future Makers” category within the Virginia Manufacturing Cup, inviting Virginia students ages 13 and older to enter products they have personally designed and manufactured. This new track expands the statewide competition, highlights emerging talent, and strengthens Virginia’s manufacturing pipeline.

Future Makers follows the public‑voting format of the main Cup, giving students a platform to showcase innovation, creativity, and technical skill. Entries must be student-designed and assembled in Virginia and may be submitted by individuals or teams enrolled in Virginia high schools, colleges, universities, or approved homeschool programs. Participation is free, and submissions include a description, photos, and an optional video, verified by an instructor or program sponsor.

All student entries will appear on VAMFGCup.com during the voting period, where individuals may cast their vote, with finalists recognized at the Virginia Manufacturing Gala.

The category supports VMA’s mission to inspire interest in manufacturing careers, expand hands-on learning, and elevate programs that cultivate the next generation of Virginia innovators.
